What Does “Ha Aggiunto un Cuoricino a” Mean?
Ha aggiunto un cuoricino a is Italian for “added a little heart to”. It usually means someone reacted to one of your messages with a heart. Nobody typed it: it is automatic text standing in for the heart icon.
What the full message says
| Italian | English |
|---|---|
| Ha aggiunto un cuoricino a un’immagine | Added a heart to an image: they liked a photo you sent |
| Ha aggiunto un cuoricino a “…” | Added a heart to “…”: the quoted words are your own message |
Why it arrives as text
On an iPhone you can press and hold a message and react with a heart, a thumbs-up or another icon. Apple calls these Tapbacks. Between two iPhones the reaction shows as a small icon on the message. When the conversation is running as an ordinary text message, which is common between an iPhone and an Android phone, the reaction can arrive instead as a separate line describing it. In English that line reads “Loved an image”.
The wording depends on the phones involved, so you can receive it in Italian even if you have never used Italian yourself.
The same thing in other languages
| Message | Language | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Του/της αρέσει πολύ μια εικόνα | Greek | He or she really likes an image |
| Αντέδρασε με … σε μια εικόνα | Greek | Reacted with … to an image |
| …に「いいね」と応答 | Japanese | Responded to … with “Like” |
Do I need to do anything?
No. It is a friendly reaction, and you do not have to reply. On Android, Google Messages can show many iPhone reactions as emoji instead of text, so if the lines bother you, look for the iPhone reactions option in its settings.
