How do you say eglomise in French?

Asked by: 3966 views ,

I don’t really want to know how to say eglomise in French but there isn’t “English” in the drop down box.

What I actually would like to know is – in the term “verre eglomise” what does the word eglomise translate to in English. I know what verre eglomise is…I know it is reverse gilding on glass and I know that the word verre means glass, I am looking for a literal translation of the word eglomise.

TIA

The word comes from the French “églomisé” that comes from a man called “Glomy”. The guy was apparently a famous frame maker of the XVIII century.
